Antoinette's courts-bouillons: Interview with Xavier Depoorter - founder of Wikipreneur

Mon Bouillon, of course, are broths that are good for the heart, good for the heart, but it is also an entrepreneurial project that I have been carrying out for more than 2 years now.

With Antoinette's courts-bouillons, I would like to highlight other entrepreneurs and their projects - on the one hand because these are projects in which I believe, but also to give you feedback if you too you want to embark on this great adventure.

The first project I wanted to share is the project of Xavier Depoorter, who created Wikipreneur 10 years ago, a toolbox for getting started in entrepreneurship. It also organizes an annual "6 Days around entrepreneurship" fair, which I had the chance to take part in this year at the Impact Village.

Transcript of the interview:

Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

I'm Xavier, I'm passionate about entrepreneurship, fell into the broth when I was little [he laughs]. Quite simply because it's so wonderful to create a project from scratch and make it your job...

To have customers... Happy customers and so on to engage and others. It's magnificent, but it's also complicated, there are 1000 things to do in relation to that.

I had the chance to co-create 6 companies during my personal path, including the SME department of a management school in Brussels (ICHEC) where I learned everything from tens, hundreds and even thousands of entrepreneurs. And so I try to do that today through the Wikipreneur , the 6 DAYS show, whose mission is very simple; Advancing Entrepreneurs .

So if we can help the entrepreneurs, Mon bouillon and the others, a little bit and on any aspect, we will have been useful for something.

How long has Wikipreneur been around?

10 years.

Why a specific platform like wikipreneur was needed

I didn't wake up one morning saying to myself, well, I have a great vision and that's it. It's not that. It came from several things. The first is that by dint of giving trainings, crackings and others, I was a little tired of repeating the same things and I said to myself that it would still be nice to have tools. And so I started writing tools and then putting it somewhere.

At that time, an editor from Nebout editions came to see me and asked me: “ Hey, wouldn't you write your book on business creation? ". And I said to myself, it's not a book that you need, it's a site. That's the beginning of the story.

Today, in 2022, Wikipreneur is a great toolbox that has been nurtured by lots of partners, which is mostly free, and which therefore offers, in all dimensions - whether it is the aspect "being an entrepreneur yourself", the financial, logistical, marketing, sales, legal aspects, etc.

Here, for example, we were talking about the association - there is a sheet that will explain the ins and outs of the association. Most of the time, there is a tool, which allows to make, to manufacture and in this case to see if it is possible to associate both. We're both going to answer the questionnaire, and then we're going to put them together and we'll see pretty quickly if it matches a little much, not at all,...

So here's how Wikipreneur works.

What is your vision for Wikipreneur? What is your ultimate dream for this platform?

It is that it persists. Because it is useful. We have around 7,000 unique visitors per week, which for a French-speaking Belgian entrepreneur is still quite enormous. And so the question now is how to make it evolve, how to pass on the witnesses, how can we associate with others,...so that it lives and continues to be active.

Do you have a lesson to share?

The first is; Who are you ? What do you want ? You do not want what ? And it's a life path, it's not particularly obvious for everyone at time T to answer that.

My personal choice is also made of that because we have a lot of images that we believe to be the good ones which are not necessarily so. So here it is, [being an entrepreneur] is to appeal to who you are, to your roots, to your instincts, and then, on this layer, we will come to put the construction of management, but the heart of an entrepreneur , the heart of a project is really who you are yourself, what do you want to do, what do you want to bring, where is your talent and your talent it is in the energy. If we have energy in what we do, it's because we hit the mark. And that for me is the most important.

How do you see the world of tomorrow?

There are a lot of tensions, crises today. Personally, I'm rather optimistic about the human capacity to find solutions, but it's true that for the moment there is a lot, that this climate crisis is still scary, which is moreover why at living room, we created this village impact. It's really the idea of seeking out positive energies, of showing that it's possible to do positive entrepreneurship. As positive as possible for all stakeholders. It's going towards that and I believe that when you put these energies together there are positive things that happen. Let the anguish then turn into actions and I think we'll get out of it like that. That's one thing.
